Joe is a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in journalism with a minor in chemistry. Joe was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to North Carolina when he was two years old. He grew up in Matthews, North Carolina, a small town 30 minutes outside of Charlotte. He was inspired to pursue a journalism degree after he began watching The Herd with Colin Cowherd in 2017 and grew to love the daily sports talk show. Joe is concentrating his journalism coursework in the photo and video field.
Now 20 years old, Joe is starting to find his footing as far as what he wants to do after school. Joe loves creating images and videos that revolve around sports, athletes, and competition. He believes that documenting sports is important as it offers insight into the real, raw emotions that exist during intense competition. He hopes to one-day work for a sports production company with access to a variety of collegiate and professional sports like football, golf, and basketball.
In his free time, Joe enjoys watching sports, hanging out with his fraternity brothers, and traveling with his family. He is a fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers. He is currently taking classes in photojournalism and digital storytelling and is expected to graduate from UNC in May 2025.
